Welcome to The Trading Post in Horton in Ribblesdale,
the local shop for the global village!
Horton, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales national park,
is situated on the B6479 midway between Settle in the
south and Ribblehead to the north. Horton is also
renowned for the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks walk,
which takes in the summits of Pen y Ghent, Whernside
and Ingleborough, over a distance of 23 miles and
climbing over 1600 meters. In addition to our shop,
Horton also boasts two pubs, The Crown Hotel and
Golden Lion Hotel, along with the Pen-Y-Ghent Café a
nd the Blind Beck Tea-room. There are also numerous
holiday cottages and B&B's and for those who prefer
camping, there is the Holme Farm campsite, which is
just 200 yards from the shop.

In addition the Pennine Way also passes through the village (50 metres from our door) en route from Malham to Hawes.
In addition, for rail enthusiasts, the village has a station on the Settle Carlisle Railway line, with regular stopping services and the occasional steam train to add interest.
